Replacing AC Stuff inside the heating unit 200 1980

I'll be doing a Heater Core in my '80 245 DL.

This car has AC.

Well, it had AC at one point. The components are still there, but the thing hasn't worked since before the car has been in the family (which was 1987).

I've decided that I would like to fix the AC when I fix the heater core, since I'll have easy access to several components.

As it is, I already have a later Rotary Compressor to put in place of the York that is on the car now.

In the process of doing this job, I would like to put a R-134 system in, since I'll likely be replacing all the components anyhow.

My questions:

What all is inside the HVAC unit that I'll need to be replacing?

Is it possible to retrofit the later more robust AC stuff into my '80?

What components should I get new? What should be okay from the junk yard?

All in all this seems as though it should be pretty straight forward, but there is just about nothing about the AC in either the Haynes or Bentley book.

Thanks as always.
