I just became a member. Looks like a great site. I bought a 87 240 DL five speed with 170K on it about two weeks ago. I added factory oil pressure and voltmeter gauges today. I tapped into the brown instrument cluster line to connect the lamps to the new gauges. I was having trouble with one of the bulbs and while fiddling with it, all of the instrument lamps went out. I checked the fuse (okay) and there is juice at the fuse leg. There is no power at the round connector brown pin that plugs into the cluster. I probed the brown wire down it's length and there doesn't seem to be power along it. Is there another fuse somewhere that I might have blown? I have a wiring diagram that shows the power from the fuseblock feeds the rheostat and then continues to the round connector. Could I have cooked the rheostat? Can I jump the stat to find out? Lots of questions, I know but I am stumped. Thanks for the replies.
