Car Fuel problems.... 700 1991

Car - 1991 740 turbo

So my car was having problems awhile back (stalling, not getting above 2000RPM, loss of power etc)....it seemed like a fuel problem to me, so I checked to fuel pumps current draw. The in-tank pump was at 2.5amp (spec is 3-4amps) and the main pump was at 10.5amps (spec is 6.5amps). So of course I assumed the fuel pumps were the problem...

I changed the fuel pumps this morning (and the fuel filter), and went for a test drive. It initially started out okay, revs went up as they were supposed to, but I took it slow and didn't boost. When the car warmed up, I began starting to boost it and that was where the probem began. Everytime I punched it to go into boost, it was like it hit a wall and dropped out of boost...it had not power and could not hold boost...

I don't know what to do now. I checked the current draw on the pumps again, and the in-tank pump is now right on point at 3.5amps....but the main pump is now showing 11.5-12amps when the spec says it should be 6.5amps...

-I ordered a factory Bosch fuel pump from ipd....Could I have gotten a faulty fuel pump?

-Could it be a problem further up the line (i.e. fuel injectors being blocked, clogged, or faulty) causing the pump to work to hard? If so, how do I check for faulty or clogged injectors?

-What else could it be? Are there any fuel dampers or regulators that may be clogged that I should replace? How do I check?

Please help...I need to get the Volvo back on the road as soon as possible and the fuel pumps I thought would solve the problems didn't....

Thanks in advance
