230BF Timing Belt change, check before buttoning up.....

Here's what I do:

Timing belt on, marks all correct, tensioner torqued properly, crank pulley on but not fully torqued.

Using a breaker bar, I rotate the engine one complete turn forwards, then one complete backwards. The stripes on the belt MUST come back to their starting locations, and all gear check marks line up. If not - fix things until the test is passed.

Then button up.

Good Luck,

Bob

PS - Found out that not torquing the tensioner can guarantee that the belt will jump at least one tooth.
