PCV on a B20 120-130

Found out why the B20 wouldn't stay running. I had the hoses hooked up like a B18. I'll rectify that. But before I do I want to ask if the hose from the teardrop to the air cleaner - on the side of the engine - should have both a flame guard and a pcv valve in it??? The arrow on the valve should point in which direction????? Should there be anything in the other hose - from the oil cap to the intake (in my case combination) manifold?
Thanks for all your help. Long live the BB.
