ATTN: southern california people, help reccomend radio installer! 200 1989

Installing the radio is fairly simple, but if you still have the factory radio, you'll have to bypass the amp. On your 89, it should be to the right of the passengers feet, back behind the glovebox somewhere. As I recall, the front speakers are wired through the amp, and you have to do a little bit of rewiring to wire them to your new radio. I managed to do mine myself, but I can understand if you'd rather not do it.

I've also had an audio place install a radio for me (they offered free installation), and though I had to wait forever, there weren't really any problems. They did mangle my old radio, and though I hadnt planned on re-using it, I was still a little annoyed. If you do intend to use your old radio, I'd mention that, and maybe mention the issue of bypassing the amp. Volvos are pretty simple, so anyone who installs radios shouldnt have a problem.
