uphill struggle 200

Hi. Longtime lurker/new poster. My '84 240 (automatic)Swedish chariot was in the shop yesterday for some strut and bushing work, and I reminded Volvo dude that my idle is still funky, that it bops too much when set at the standard rpm. I've been worried about the throttle. Well, when I picked up the car, they agreed with me for the first time about the idle and said that the timing was a little off, so they adjusted the timing. I thanked them, especially since it needs a CA smog test. Anyway, the car has always been strong going up hills, but going up my usual San Francisco hills today the car totally struggled. It didn't knock, but it had very low energy, and I would have to floor it. So I'm thinking it must have something to do with their timing adjustment? What do you think? Thanks.
