brake lights not working 89 240,no power to the lights,can that switch on the pedal be bad? 200 1989

That Brake pedal switch is hard to get at. I would jump past it to the Bulb Failure Sensor and back-probe for +12V at the only Blue/Red wire in the harness plug (with pedal depressed).

If Voltage there, the switch is OK, and the problem may be the BFS itself. That's the last place that's common to both sides.

If no voltage at BFS, then the switch is probably bad (never saw one myself).
