Speedometer swap 200 1982

The 85mph and the 120mph versions are completely interchangable, but the issue you are having is that the ratio must be the same. They should have replaced the 85mph r0,960 with any good r0,960 ratio. Unless your car was supposed to come with a r0,980 and the r0,960 was swapped in accidentally sometime in the past. In which case you have a very impressive shop.
My M46 Turbo car has a r0,980 speedo. I've replaced three speedos in the past five years, but all of them were r0,980 ratios.
