power ant. 200

Yes, some did have the power antennas. Mounted on the LR fender. Look up and forward of the spare tire for a 2-wire connector, one green and one black. that's the P.A. wiring.

Be leery of the antennas on eBay. The Volvo 200/700/900 factory ones are 3-section, not 5-section. That makes the distance between the motor and the fender longer, and the spare tire will not bump into the motor. There is a special bracket on the Volvo units that supports the motor by connecting to the fender seam that is nearby. If you go to a JunkYard, be sure to get this, too.

Note that the RF cable in the car from the factory is designed to connect to a short pigtail on the Volvo antenna. A non-volvo antenna usually comes with RF cable long enough to reach the head unit. If the factory-wired cable from the front is plugged into that long cable, the cable length can mess up reception. BTDT

I got mine from a JunkYard, and was able to make it work. Replacement masts are available, and the ones on eBay are probably OK.

Find an "Antenna up/down" rocker switch for the control panel, to have it retractable while listening to CD or tape. Those switches occasionally show up on eBay. Easy install, and important for the antenna to have a long life. BTDT

Good Luck,

Bob
