Late model 240 power steering accessory bushing orientation 200 1992

I did a p/s pump remove & replace recently on an '89 240
Both bushings went in from the outside of the bracket.

That is, the front bushing went in as you wrote, small section in to center of bracket, and large section out by radiator.
Rear bushing went in from the rear, with the small section to the center of the bracket and the large section facing rearwards.

Try it that way, my guess is that they didn't change the setup from '89 to '92.
Should look and feel right when you're done.
