Patrick,
I do not have any secrets for trim restoration,however, I do have an individual that is a true craftsman at metal restoration. He did all the trim on my 67 122S and it is better than new. If you are interested, I can send you his number.

As for the clips, there are a bunch of the metal ones for sale on ebay.
