Re: checking the fuel pump without a gauge: Try this quick fuel delivery check. If the flow is about right, then it is highly unlikely that problems with pumps, filter, or fuel pressure regulator are the reason for your no start, although this doesn't guarantee that all the items are performing exactly to spec.

If yours passes this test, and you have a good fuel relay, then you can start looking to other causes for your problem.
