85 240 cruise questions 200

I have looked at the Volvo Service Manual Wiring Diagrams book for 1985 240, and in the Volvo installation instructions for 1984/5 cruise control.

Nowhere did I see a resistor. However, I do see two wires, green and brown, leading into the retardation sender. That thing apparently has a weight or some such that moves when the car slows, or starts downhill. Then it opens the circuit, dropping out the control.

See if that's what you have. See if the system works with the green and brown wires connected together. You won't have that retardation control, so make it a short flat-land test drive.

Good Luck,

Bob
