Auto Transmission bushing and spring? 200 1989

Hello jedis

I attempted to replace my transmission bushing and seal yesterday. When I took off the rear transmission housing, a loose spring - the diameter and approximate weight of a click pen spring but much longer - dropped out - loose. Where the hell did this come from and how do I get it back.

My first thought was to pretend like I didn't see it and hope everything worked fine when I put it all back together. But I made that same decision with the timing belt replacement and my pretend fix cost me $500 real dollars.

Any ideas?

I really manhandled the seal while it was still under the car. In other words - I didn' realize I could remove the housing before I removed the seal.

Please help.

Niko
