1996 960 Fuel Rail Removal 900 1996

As I remember, the first step is to remove the dress cover which just snaps in place. Pull from the direction of the engine toward the driver side of the car. Next there are a set of bolts holding the rail assembly with the injectors in place on the manifold. With these bolts out the entire rail with the injetors should pull out of the manifold. Find a place to gently but forcefully pull/pry such that the injectors will come straight out of their holes. I think I used a very large screw driver. You will likely find some of the plastic shields at the end of the injector degraded or broken. I've seen no bad effect from having them missing. If cracked or otherwise messed up take the bad ones off because you don't want them to fall into the manifold later.

The rail will still be attached to the fuel lines. If you want to take it to the bench these will need to come apart. There is then a bracket that holds all the injectors to the fuel rail held by about 4 screws. With the bracket removed the individual injectors can be pulled from the rail.

That is the general method but my memory may have missed a couple points. Hope this helps.
