Front Brake line Success 200 1989

Nice work. I had a real heck of a time with these lines as well. Had to replace front calipers on my 85 DL and the flare nuts were completely frozen from age - they rounded off even with a flare nut wrench. I did the same thing - propane torch eventually allowed me to get the lines off of the flexible hose. Had to replace flexible hoses as well as lines to caliper. One flare nut on a line from the hose to the junction box completely busted, so had to replace this one line, but others I got off OK.

I really dislike the Girling caliper design. While it offers excellent stopping power, the pins that hold the brake pads in tend to rust solid to the calipers, making pad removal at old age impossible, and necessitating replacement of the entire caliper. This wouldn't have been a problem if my brakes hadn't been touched in 10 years, but unfortunately I didn't know this when I bought the $500 heap, which now sits with a bad rear wheel bearing.
