Carpet Kits for 1973 P1800 ES? 1800 1973

I never knew how hard it would be to find a manufacturer for my 1973 1800 ES! Here is what I have found:

3 Manufacturers:

AutoMat 516-938-7373 or 800-444-6473 (No Web Site)

VP Autoparts 843-760-0170 VP-Autoparts.com

Roadworks.com

Automat is the best on quality as they have a wide selection of carpet types and color. 14 OZ. Nylon, Dense Nylon and yes the ultimate, Wilton Wool type I and type III. the wool is rocking but very exspensive. The 14 OZ nylon seems to be to loose and the Dense Pile the best for look vs. price.

VP Autoparts is second on my list as they also make some very sweet interiors. they seem to use the dense pile in lieu of the 14 OZ. They are developing kits for the ES but already have for E and S models. ES should be ready this summer from what they told me.

If your looking for carpet replacement for a daily driver and you want the look to be just OK, the 14 OZ. is fine.

My bet is to sell the wife's 855 and get the wool but will most likely get caught and will end up with AutoMat's Dense pile. Nice people and will send samples to you to make selection from.

Funny thing is, I will place my new black rubber floor mats from Sweedish Treasures down on top to protect from rubbing the beautiful carpet.

Hope this helps everyone.
