Difficult warm starting 88 240 (looking for a challenge?) 200 1988

hi, greg

I have an 89 and it had an issue that might be similar to yours, maybe not exactly the same. it was more a warm start-up issue. the car would start up right away when cold, like in the morning when I go to work. but say by afternoon when it is much hotter it would take a few cranks to get it start. sometimes it could be in the late afternoon. if I remember correctly, it would also happen with a warm engine, like after parking it for an hour or so after driving it. it would crank but not fire up right away. usually I had to time applying the gas immediately after cranking. it didn't happen all the time but enough where it got a bit annoying. I decided to put in an injector cleaner. I was going to go with techron but decided with STP complete fuel system cleaner, both were around $6 a bottle. it seemed to work really well, and I've not experienced the warm start-up issue lately.

you might want to look into that. if you do decide to add that into yer fuel system, I would coincide it with an upcoming oil change. pour in a bottle, drive it for a week (sometimes hard) and then do an oil change. hope this helps.
