B23F flame trap connection 200 1984

How is the flame trap gallery/hose routed below the flame trap (that is, from the flame trap to the crank case)? The reason I ask is that when removing the the intake manifold I inadvertantly dropped a 10mm nut from the lower number three intake flange, and cannot find it for love nor money. I am satisfied that it has not gone into the intake, as the nut was dropped prior to manifold removal, however the flame trap connection on the block was wide open. I hunted for the blessed thing for THREE HOURS and was unable to locate it. I have plumbed the hidden depths with a magnetic wand, and goped in strange dark greasy crevices with sensitive fingers and still cannot locate it.
If perchance the nut dropped into the open crank ventilation system, would it go right into the pan, or would it lodge at some point? And, if it went straight to the pan, will it necessitate pan removal to extract it, or can the engine safely be run with it loose in the pan?
