Newbie..First Post.. 700

Hello Volvosteel.....

Greatly apprieciate the welcome..Lived a short while in Huntington Beach back in 1974.

I pretty much do the same in my back yard! Recently, I had to clean up the back yard taking two engine's to the dump, one was a 90 B230 that only needed a head gasket, the other was a 6 cylinder MB diesel, I still got a 5 cylinder MB diesel engine sitting on blocks waiting for a rust free benz to go in. My current 90 740 wag I just replaced the engine with one I bought for $100. with only 120K. the car had 160K for $500. All but two of my Volvo's over the years I have replaced engines but haven't needed to replace any trannies. Before that, there were quite a few others including my very first car, a 64 Valiant.

Many years ago, my brother guided me in rebuilding my 85 760 turbo, my first rebuild, and I drove that car 300K!

Even if I could afford have the work done, I'd still rather do my own mechanicals! I do get a sence of accomplishment and love working on them.

Look forward posting here.........Steve
