Pulled code 212 and 231 200 1990

Greetings

I am new to the volvo world. i was basically given this 90 240 with a few issues and would like to get it running better. i am using it to drive in my rather tough commutes to school and work becaus they are taking a toll my my 91 audi 80 quattro. I have the factory service manuals and i followed the procedure to pull the stored codes out of the ECU. what came up were 212 and 231. the car runs great when it is cold. after it gets hot, it never seems to get better until the next day. it hesitates and misses like crazy. it has 189k on the clock. any idea? the codes are lambda sensor related but i hear that there could be other issues.
