Dashboard Idiot Lights 700 1990

Any time I start my car with the parking brake engaged the lights for the alternator & low screenwash fluid also light and stay on until the parking brake is released (I generally let it idle for a minute on cold mornings).

Why? The battery and voltage regulator/brushes are both new & I have no starting issues, It's not low on washer fluid either.

I'm assuming that it's some kind of electrical gremlin probably related to a switch /relay/ground etc none of which are terms I know much about! Please bear this in mind if replying.

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Matthew
