Help! It's Running like S..T

My headlight switch failed last week on my 1981 245 and I immediately got pulled over for it so I did a preliminary check of how to fix it and decided to use the alternate car until I had time to deal with it. The car sat for about 4 days and I fixed the switch this AM. I removed it and was able to put all the bits back together and electrical tape the unit and re-install it. I did do some aggressive poking around under the dash to accomplish this and while I was there decided to try and re-attach my heater vent to the box...also probably jostled the wiring and gave up on that. My headlights work, but the car feels like it's running on 3 cylinders and has since the moment I started it. It can be driven, but the idle is rough and the power is gone. You need to downshift the auto tranny to go up hills and unless you shift into neutral at red lights and push the accelerator slightly the engine will idle to low and stall. Previously the car always ran great-with or without the headlight problem. These problems all began after I fixed the switch. By the way...Hollywood police were completely sympathetic to the switch breaking and didn't write me up...hooray for Hollywood!
