Fuel pump relay and #7 fuse getting way hot!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1980 DL that recently started acting up. First it blew out the fuel pump relay so I changed it. Then it blew out the new one, so I cleaned up all of the contacts, and replaced the fuel pump. Since then it hasn't blown the new relay, but it does make it (and the corosponding fuse) extremely hot, to the point of giving a blister upon contact............ I assume it is not normal for them to get that hot. Any ideas? Thanks
Adam
