UPDATE on erratic ignition problems 200 1983

I am optimistic I located the source of the intermittent ignition problems on my 1983 GL. Symptoms: after running 5-20 miles, or after running 5-10 miles then sitting a few minutes, car would miss a few times then die; after sitting 1-2 hours, car ran normally again. Theory: heat buildup caused some connection to fail. Main suspects from prior threads: Hall sender (which would require pulling distributor to replace), wiring harness, or ignition coil.

Since the ignition coil only cost $20 for a Borg Warner (could have spent $10 for a generic), and since it was easy to get to, we replaced it first. Also, the wire to terminal 15 (from ignition switch?) was essentially bare, so I taped it with electrical tape.

this seems to have fixed it (knock wood, at least for now). thanks for the insights.
