Starting for one second, then dies 200 1986

Really strange. My 244 was running great. Parked it and an hour later it won't start. Was pretty low on gas but that's not it, just to be sure I put another gallon in. It actually runs for a half second or a second. I tested for spark and it is OK. Would this be consistent with a clogged fuel filter? The AMM is pretty new (10,000 mi.) Tune up parts are older but not bad. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
