Wipers, bit of a stumble...your thoughts 200 1989

I haven't even peeked at this yet but I thought I'd toss it out here for your thoughts.

Wipers work fine with the exception that as the arms start to reach the 'layed down' position they have a little studder. You would think that one of the arms are binding on something but I don't hear anything that sounds like interference.
When I grab the drivers side arm (with the wipers off) and rock it a bit, it feels like the linkage between the two wipers are nice and tight, no play. Any thoughts? Would Play in the motor to wiper linkage cause this? Has anyone had this specific issue?
