rear suspension bushings... do they make a difference? 700 1988

Gang, I face a bit of a dilemma. I destroyed my rear differential (solid axle car) and I am going to replace the entire rear end as per recommendations from you all.

BUT, as long as I have the rear end out of the car, I have a perfect oppourtunity to replace the rear bushings. But, my finances are severly limited (I'm a grad student).

My question to you is, do the rear suspension bushings go bad? AND do they make that much of a difference?? Can I just reuse my old bushings?

Then, my follow-up question would be IF I SHOULD replace the bushings... How hard of a job is it? WHich was are drop-ins? Which ones do I have to drill out? etc.

I would really appreciate your advice on this one.

Thanks.

Mike
