FUEL PRE-PUMP DISASTER! 200 1990

I was following the directions and advice from my Haynes manual and input from this board on removing the Pre-pump from my trunk. I was told by all to remove the elctrical socket on top of the pump. So, I pulled it up and it is NOT a snap on and it broke my wires off of the pump!!! NOW WHAT? Am I going to have to buy an entire new pre-pump? Or, can it be repaired once I have it removed?

Also, I am having problems getting the pump to turn to get it out.

As always, any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
don
