The PV 544 with its recirculating ball steering and stock tires is a joy to drive. I owned one for the four years before I was drafted. When you get into a 122 from a 544, the 122 seems to have truck like steering.

Recirculating ball steering gear boxes are low friction and were the best steering gear box made. Worm and sector gear steering gear boxes have a much heavier feel.
