Are front and rear door handles interchangeable? 200 1992

Yes--you can use a rear door handle from the same side of the car. I've done it on a 1980. Don't know that there's anything different about the newer models.

I know what you mean about the blackout finish. I've been looking for a piece of door trim for two years for my 1992. Finally I put in a piece with the metal insert--it doesn't look as bad as having nothing at all. You may have to do the same with your door handle.

Or--if you live where the 240 was a big seller, you might look for a 4-door Turbo junker with a solid left rear handle--seems to me they had blackout finish on the handles etc.

One last gasp alternative--swap the front and rear handles on your car.

Good luck.
