Strange interior leak 700 1989

More likely than not, your leak is someplace up front -- on the firewall or the side kick panel next to the driver's left foot.

A grommet out of place, for example. Or the panel blanking off what used to be the fresh air door on the kick panel is loose.

It is a good practice (once a year?) to occasionally remove the front seat(s), pull up the carpet and inspect/test for such leaks and any floor rust.

After you do, begin your leak testing by putting water low on the firewall and one-by-one, working upward to each item (wiring harness, cable, etc.) which passes through the firewall. Then the vent cowling, then the windshield, then sunroof.
