Greetings Bricksters: First off, I need to thank all those who were kind enough to respond to my post, and a special "hey" to Art B for the All-Data posting. Put the car on the rack today and here's the answer. The white wire was completely severed somewhere between the grommet leading out of the shift area and the solenoid. So, it is apparent that, for some reason Volvo does it backward....the solenoid is energized (hot) to keep the OD engaged. It would seem to me that the correct way to do it would be to allow the OD operate in default mode, so that upon failure of the fuse, relay, or wire, the trans wouldn't be compromised, since the car is driven with the OD activated 99.9% of the time. But no one asked me.... So, I just spliced a wire in there, soldered it all up, clipped it back on, and away I went. Time: 45 minutes. And by the bye, the relay is behind the glovebox and a bit to the left. Really easy to get to to replace, if necessary. Cost, through ipd, about $45. Didn't need it though...at least, not this time.
