Towing a Golf 200 1985

You don't have to cut any wires or disconnect wires in the door. There are wire connectors for all of the wiring just in the door pillar. For the back doors take off the plastic cover on the pillar, and the trim around the carpet and then pull back the carpet. You should see the wiring harness. Pull on the wires and you should find the connectors. They are usually tucked into the pillar. To get the front ones take the felt off the bottom of the dash and the plastic cover off the door pillar area. The drivers door is the hardest, because you may have to move the fuse box out of the way(two screws). Disconnect the battery for sure if you do this.
