Followup: Got the links tied off and the car is unstoppable. Our road has a substantial hill on it and cars were trying for a while and then giving up, the snow is like 4 inches deep with ice under it. My car did fine up and down it with the chains on. Wow they are great except for the roar when you are driving. Luckily it lets up above 20 MPH.
