I also live in CA and also just acquired a 940 (but non-turbo), and am also north of my 50th BD. We're insured through the Automobile Club (AAA), and added the 940 to our other covered cars. Quoted premium was $460. This is for $500k bodily injury and $100k property damage liability and $500 deductible collision, plus the usual stuff they seem to throw in. You won't hear a quote like this unless (like us) you have other cars and your house insured with them - but it sounds like you are being quoted very high by your present outfit. Of course premiums are very location sensitive in CA - we live in a small town. Try AAA.
