setting idle on 1991 with LH 2.4 200 1991

I often get an uneven or fast idle with my 2.4 system, and every time it is caused by a small build up of fine black greasy dirt in the idle valve. Each oil change as a routine I remove the valve, swill in petrol and replace. That invariably restores the idling.
Yes, there is a screw stop on the throttle. I set it the first time, but the idle control system has kept it spot on ever since.
