SU HIF6 conversion from 140 to 164 Question (George D.?) 140-160

Well, I just bolted them on and adapted the air cleaner box to fit after
making normal adjustments. I think my carbs came with BAL needles and
they work fine. Since the B30 cylinders are the same size as the B20s,
the amount of flow per pulse is only slightly larger, but you have half
again as many pulses, so it is like the B20 at a higher speed.

I used the colortune devices in #2 and #5 to try and get the mixtures equal
but whatever method you would use on a B20 will work the same on a B30.

One thing I had to do - since my HIF6 carbs didn't have the arms to open
the secondary butterflies in my manifold, I took the secondary butterflies
out, including the shafts, and put some 5/16" very short bolts in the
holes with permatex. This was not the most professional way of doing it
but I was in my carport in Panama at the time and didn't have a lot of
other options.

The HIF6s have worked VERY well for me, using IPD's street perf cam
(which I think is NLA for the B30).
