Unless you really get a professional job done, I think that the wheels will have various blemishes and stains after a year or so.
I paint my wheels in a cool basement using Rustoleum and a 3/4" round brush, I do the bead flange area with a 1/4" artist's brush. The cool temperature causes the paint to run a bit, but except for a few drips on the back and the floor, the paint comes out real smooth. I paint the back of the wheel a light color so that I can tell when they are clean. I repaint the front of the wheels each year after washing the wheels and wiping them down with paint thinner. Nothing looks as good as a fresh coat of paint.
I'd paint the wheels and hubcaps bright yellow! I did Evander that way one year and the wheels almost glowed. I left the car for service one day and the counter man told me that every person who came in asked about the yellow wheels. I didn't ask him what their comments were!
