I've never had a problem in snow with my RWD Volvos (240's). I live in the hills of western CT and drive 40 miles to work daily. With good snow tires (I like the Gislaveds) all around and sensible driving, I think RWD is just fine. I prefer my car to my wife's '97 850 (snow tires all around and traction control) in snow.
