Instrument cluster compatibility 1988/1989 200 1989

Hi all.

Trying to install donor 1988 cluster in 1989 245.

When I replace it for the stock (broken odometer)cluster the car refuses to start. (NOTE: will start with old 89 cluster and up until the speedo connector is plugged in....then NOTHING!).

It appears as if there is an extra pin at about 1 o'clock (looking at the rear of the speedo) which the 89 has and the 88 has not.

Is this what is causing the no start?

Can I jump this pin somehow at the connector?
