engine performance and 700

I've had my 87 740 gle for 4 months and have worked out most of the bugs it had when i got it. When starting it up it needs up to a minute to clear itself out and be ready to run. It starts fine, but responds inconsistently with throttle until it clears - sometimes it'll stall when i give it throttle.

I bought the car with this as a known problem and the guy i bought it from listed a leaky distributor gasket as one possibilitiy. I have yet to check this out.

The new information is - today i went through an automatic car wash and paid extra for the underwash. Half way through my engine began to rev load enough for me to notice over all the car wash noise. I neglected to check the rpms before i shut it off. At the end of the car wash it would not start for about 10-15 minutes. Then it started.

Any input would be appreciated.
