Flame Trap question 900

I have a 1991 940 GLE. I've never check or replaced the flame trap, so I bought one and went to replace it today.

When I pulled off the plastic housing (with the 2 hose connections), then the short hose the housing plugs into, I expected to see the old flame trap in the flange (that the short hose was connect to), but there was no flame trap there. What I could see in the flange was what looked like a flame trap, but with bigger holes, and it was machined into that flange.

My question is, does the 940 GLE have a flame trap and it was never installed, or was that component in the flange (which couldn't be removed by the way) the flame trap?

FYI, I bought the flame trap out of the IPD catalog, and it was listed under the 900 series, so I assumed that it was also for the 940 GLE. Was I wrong?

Thanks
