Gas Door Switch? 900

Has anybody seen one of these before? What model(s) were they on? I don't have this on my 745T or my 944T.

It seems like most gas door "switches" that I have seen are more mechanical, using a cable.
So does the Volvo model have a solenoid/motor by the fill neck? That seems like it could pose a danger if so?

Anybody retro-fitted this option to their car?
