87' 740GLE and 90' 740GL Parts Interchangeability, Paint Problem? 700

I decided to park my nice 87' 740GLE in the woods after the ZF transmission started slipping. It had 228K miles on it. I picked up a 90' 740GL with 125K miles on it in just fair condition body wise. Mechanically it is pretty good. The owner's kids have trashed the headliner and I am wondering if the 87' headliner would fit in the 90' and if changing it is a big job? Both have sunroofs? Also, how about the doors (right rear).

I looked at a couple 740s, an 89' and the 90' I bought and both were missing the black paint on the side mirror assembly metal but my 87' mirrors are perfect. Also, the Gold paint on the 87' is in great shape but the dark Blue on the 90' has a few rust spots? Was there a paint problem in 89' and 90'? My 87' has no rust but both the others did. They have all spent their life in the Minneapolis, MN metro area with lots of salt.
