240 auto slipping in reverse 200 1988

Hi,

I've got a '88 240 auto, not sure exactly which auto box is fitted but it is
the one with PRND21 and an overdrive button on the side of the shifter.

I've had a problem recently that sometimes when in reverse gear there isn't
constant drive to the wheels. The revs of the engine stay fairly steady but
the car kinda 'bounces' back, similar to if i was shifting between neutral
and reverse.

It doesn't do this in any forward gears and only does it sometimes in
reverse.

I had to flush the tranny a couple of months back after the radiator blew
leaking coolant into the transmission, i used dexron III fluid..the car is
only 60k miles old..what have i done!!

Also would slipping fan belts cause shitty fuel mileage by any chance?

Thanks in advance

Alex
