Intermittent cut out while accelerating 700 1990

More clues, if I disconnect knock sensor I get no change, even when driving. Loosened knock sensor and retightened to make sure it wasn't too tight. I cleaned out throttle body to no avail.Intermittent is all the time now I think. Will try to drive tomorrow morning with a cold engine and see what happens. Attached a Tach. and went to adjust idle by little black knob and could not set idle above 800 or so. Book says I should be at 900. When I cleaned out TB I removed that knob and made sure all was clean inside.Any Thoughts as to why the idle wont go higher, also I can turn knob pretty much all the way in and idle goes down a bit but not all that much. Is this related to engine cutting out when I try to accelerate? Many thanks.
