I must add that your mechanic does not have to pull a piston to measure the connecting rods. They can easily be inspected with the pan off. If you really had to know, he or you can pull the pan and measure the connecting rods.

By the way, the K dissappeared from the block sometime prior to the 1990 model year, but the K still appears on the engine code decal (which is on the front of the timing belt cover). For the 1992 model year, the engine code for a North American market B230FT with Mitsubishi turbo was 1289429. It may be the same for the 1991 model year.
