blue's whining, no gears, torque conv.? 200 85

Dang, another one within a month.

My 85 244 started whining from just forward of the gearshift a few days ago, with the pitch of the noise inc with speed/rpm. The noise is present in neutral, and pitch still inc w/ rpm. Fluid levels ok. From under the idling car the noise is right at the TC. Last night the transmission slipped as I left for home. Turned around & went back to Dad's and lost all gears inside of a quarter mile. Happy birthday to me.

I'm afraid it's a TC prob, but I see other posts on various Tranny valves, though the failures are not so extreme. This car has 288K+ mi on the clock and is hard used-- previously city driving,& 85 - 90 mph hwy(for 2K/yr)at 12000mi/yr , & now 40000 mi /yr, city & hwy, and some hauling - say 4-600 lbs in back seat.

Any hope? a junkyard tranny/tc or a rebuild? prices for new rebuilt tc if rebuilt avail?
